About Us

Advancing GPs. Advancing General Practice. Advancing Community Healthcare.

GPpartners is one of the largest divisions of general practice in Australia, representing more than 800 GPs and more than 200 general practices in Brisbane's northern and western suburbs (for details see Demographics).

We are dedicated to assisting general practitioners and their staff in developing their clinical, business and workforce capabilities, striving for quality care and successful practices.

GPpartners’ initiatives focus on general practice clinical development, continuing education, building practice viability and improving communication between health sectors. GPpartners provides:

  • an information service for general practice
  • quality education and training for GPs and general practice staff
  • tailored assistance to GPs and practice staff
  • collegiate peer support
  • advocacy on local and national issues to state and federal government
  • liaison with health care providers to improve interaction with general practice and to ultimately improve patient care.

GPpartners (formerly Brisbane North Division of General Practice) is part of a national network of divisions which consists of 119 divisions of general practice, 7 State Based Organisations and the Australian General Practice Network.

The network is Australia’s largest representative voice for GPs and provides local support to general practice. Divisions perform a range of activities to improve and address access, integration, chronic disease management, workforce issues and consumer needs.

Locally, GPpartners has strong links with government, community health services and other medical representative bodies. These relationships, along with local GP support, give us a voice in general practice issues.

GPpartners receives significant funds from the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing. Funding is also sourced through project and research funding pools, the Queensland government, community organisations and private industry. GPs contribute with an annual membership fee.
