Management Options to Maximising Sleep

Medicating insomnia seems like a quick fix, but is it? This new NPS educational program reviews the benefits and harms of hypnotic medication, and non-drug strategies which might be more effective. Useful patient resources will be provided at each visit.

  • Identifying and addressing causes of insomnia,
  • Behavioural and cognitive therapies for insomnia. Appropriate use of hypnotic medicines.
  • Discontinuation plans for long-term hypnotic medicines
  • Engaging patient/carers in managing sleep difficulties.

  • 2 RACGP CPD points applicable. Eligible for Quality Prescribing Initiative Practice Incentives Program for the practice ($1/SWPE).

Get a New Lease of Life

Research for AGPNs ‘Get A New Lease of Life’ campaign found that people don’t understand how serious diabetes is and don’t think to consult their GP about improving their lifestyle. This Active Learning Module will help GPs assist people take steps to a healthier life. Learn how the AUSDRISK tool and Lifestyle Modification Programs are key components to success for people who need to address lifestyle risks. The program will cover: prevention of type 2 diabetes, identifying high 'at risk' patients, lifestyle risk factors, evidence base for prevention and efficacy of lifestyle interventions, motivational interviewing and behavioural change, Medicare items and referring to programs. Earn 40 Category 1 QA&CPD points.

The Eyes Have It!
