"We’re working to improve health care in our community through strong general practice".

Medical assisting

Medical Assisting is an exciting qualification for general practice staff, designed to equip graduates to perform the wide range of administrative and clinical assisting tasks required in the general practice setting. The Certificate IV in Medical Practice Assisting was developed by GPpartners in collaboration with GPs, practice staff, practice nurses and in 2007 was incorporated into the National Health Training Package (HLT07).

GPpartners has joined with Healthfirst Training Australia to offer the Certificate IV in Medical Practice Assisting in Queensland. Healthfirst Training Australia is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and provider of Nationally Accredited Qualifications from the Health Training Package.

The development of Medical Assisting is detailed in the August 2009 Australian Family Physician – “Medical assistants - A primary care workforce solution? and accompanying podcast
