Funding for students
Productivity Places Program (Queensland)
Productivity Places Program funding covers 70% of the course cost for eligible students whose employer is willing to pay the remaining 30%, or $1,500 of course fees.
This funding is limited to 30 places in the first year who:
- are Australian citizens or permanent residents; and
- are currently employed full or part-time in a general practice located in Queensland; and
- have out-of-hours access to an internet connected computer, a printer and word processing software; and
- can attend periodic clinical workshops in Brisbane.
Funding for employers
Australian Apprenticeship Incentive
The Australian Apprenticeships Incentives Program provides support to practices which employ a Medical Assisting student. An employer incentive of $1,500 is payable three months after commencement of the course. A further $2,500 is payable to the practice when the qualification is completed. Australian Apprenticeship Centres will support employers to meet the paperwork required to receive this funding.
Eligible students include those who:
- are currently employed at least 15 hours per week in the general practice; and
- have not completed either a Certificate III or IV qualification in the last 7 years; and
- are Australian citizens or permanent residents; and
- have out-of-hours access to an internet connected computer, a printer and word processing software; and
- can attend periodic clinical workshops in Brisbane

Fees
Total cost of the course is $5,000 (excluding transport, food and accommodation to attend workshops). A payment plan is available for full fee paying students.
