Programs

Our programs engage the primary health care sector to work together to improve the health of our local community. We work closely with and support GPs as a cornerstone in the primary health care team.

Education

GPpartners provides quality, accredited education for GPs and general practice staff. Workshops and in-practice training on management, administrative and clinical skills areas are available. We also support the Certificate IV in Medical Practice Assisting and Graduate Certificate in General Practice Nursing.

Chronic disease management

Our chronic disease initiatives provide GPs and practice staff with resources and knowledge to better manage and coordinate care for patients with chronic illness. Areas of focus include the elderly, mental health, diabetes and using MBS items to maximum benefit for both the GP and patient. Programs include Team Care Coordination, Brisbane MIND and Partners in MIND.

Community and hospital integration

Initiatives and advocacy within the community and hospital sectors facilitate better working relationships between health services and general practice. Our work encompasses liaison with local hospitals and community health services and formal projects to explore ways public health services and general practice can improve service delivery to the community.

Improving care for the elderly

Our aged care initiatives bring general practice, aged care facilities, hospitals and other services together to improve access to medical care for people in aged care facilities and to encourage more GPs to provide services in aged care.

eHealth

Our e-health strategy and products connect general practice with other parts of the health sector to improve information sharing, reduce costs and to ultimately provide better care and services to patients. We advise GPs and their staff about managing and using patient information to improve work flow and provide training to effectively use software applications.

Advocacy

We monitor the health environment and represent local general practitioner opinions, needs and solutions to policy makers, including local politicians, state and federal government. We work with other general practice representatives to provide advice on issues that matter to GPs and to the profession.
